Hyperactive's Team Boat Pictures
OK, so you just had to see some pictures.
It's your own darn fault that you have to sit there while they download.
So, just click on an interesting looking thumbnail picture to see it full size.

- You don't have to wait for these little pictures to reappear each time

We picked up the boat just 2 days before our first race was scheduled.
Here we see the throttle man and crew chief are really on top of things.
Our very first race was at the Oshkosh, WI Silver Cup Series finals in 1998.
We were so screwed up that this is the best picture we got. We took second place, but only 1 other Factory 1 boat showed up to race against us.
After the race Walt 4 had the AeroEFX camera stuck in his face along with a SpeedVision mike.
But the boat's not even in the picture! Poor planning. Let's not go into the fact that this was the first time for the nice young lady holding the mike too...
Our second time out was an APBA national series race at Harbor Place in Toronto.
At our second race a week later at least we got a picture of the boat.
At idle, but we were still learning. We came in dead last, but this was a National race after all...
Hyperactive at the 1998 APBA Offshore Power Boat World finals in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Through no fault of our own we finally got a good picture of the boat in a race. Unfortunately, it was taken professionally from a helicopter and cost me $450 to buy the Copyright to it so you can see it now.
Note the white streak of bubbles in the propwash of a boat we are closing in on along our starboard side, and his wake off to our port side. We try to stay out of the prop wash because the water is full of air bubbles and would cause our own prop to ventilate and slow us down. See the shadow under the boat? We are about 6 inches off the water in this picture. That's Walt the 4th on the right driving, and Walt the 3rd on the left jamming the throttle. We came in dead last, but this was the WORLDS for goodness sakes...
For you true gearheads out there, here is the Bravo 1 outdrive up close.
This is completely Mercury stock on the factory class boats. The external hydraulic steering is required. The drive shower is optional, but you need it to keep the drive from getting too hot.

We just had to snap a shot of our little old boat along side the Mercury Racing support truck. We spent a lot of money on that truck, and got a lot of good advice from a great bunch of professionals who spend much of the year on the road helping the race teams keep racing in spite of their driver's best efforts to run over everything in the way and the throttle man's whacking the drive train when he gets distracted arguing with the driver over the intercom.

First Great Lakes Silver Cup Series race of 1999.
Hyperactive took 2nd place. This one was legitimate. There really was another Factory 1 boat that finished behind us, and we got an extra point for it!
